Kent Community Foundation “Star Program”
The Kent Community Foundation (KCF) has introduced the Star Program to identify businesses and organizations making positive contributions to our community. The Star Program highlights innovative ideas, programs, or support to help our community thrive. The Star Program is intended to share the good news with customers, employees or members – and encourage ongoing contributions to the community.
The Kent Community Foundation’s Star Program highlights businesses and organizations that are helping our community thrive and flourish by supporting the grants and scholarships managed by the Kent Community Foundation and doing other good works in the greater Kent area. This new innovative program leverages customer, employee and member value for groups demonstrating social responsibility by supporting their local communities.
The Star Program recognizes and encourages philanthropy within the greater Kent area. Businesses, Nonprofits and Service Clubs of all types are invited and encouraged to participate.
The Kent Community Foundation is the local non-profit organization that has provided over $1,000,000 in scholarships in grants since it was formed. KCF is a convening organization that brings together local non-profits, service clubs, and other organizations on a weekly basis. KCF was also the lead organization on major fresh food programs during the COVID-19 pandemic. There are a wide variety of scholarships managed by the KCF. We also manage grants for Arts & Education, Kent Performing Arts, Kent Access to Recreation, along with critical need grants for COVID-19 resources and the Afghan Crisis. The Kent Community Foundation is led by a volunteer Board.

All funds received go to the Kent Community Foundation Administration – Operating Fund.
Businesses receive a certificate or decal indicating their support of the Kent Community Foundation and their corporate social responsibility at the funded level. These certificates or decals are posted in the business so that customers can see them and learn about the corporate social responsibility work supported by the business.
Additionally, all KCF Star Program businesses will be featured on social media from the Kent Community Foundation. Higher levels of support will result in more frequent features.
We also plan to host gatherings of participating companies to share corporate social responsibility ideas and encourage one another.
