The Kent Community Foundation is excited to be a partner in supporting the Kent Music4Life program.

What is Music4 Life

Music4 Life acquires “lovingly used: musical instruments from people in the community who no longer use them and provides the instruments to participating school districts for use by students in-need.   All donated instruments are first professionally assessed and repaired, if possible and at discounted rates, by qualified vendor/partners.  The instruments are then distributed directly to participating school districts, each of which is supported by a volunteer booster club.

Why is this important

Research shows that students who participate in school-based instrumental music activities do better in math, science and many other academic disciplines.  Learning and playing a musical instrument also fosters discipline, teamwork concentration, creativity and cultural learning.  It also offers “at risk” children an alternative to unhealthy and unsafe activities and t the ever-present “screen” (cellphones, tablets, etc.)

How you can help

Join the Kent Music4 Life.  Help advocate, organize and reach out to potential donors.  Doing so is a fun way to contribute to the community

Contribute financially.  Music4 Life is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization (EIN # 26-4733898).  Funds are important to cover the costs of discounted instrument repairs that may be needed.
